Birmingham City left it late to secure the win over Sheffield Wednesday but goals from Marvin Ducksch and Kyogo Furuhashi sealed the three points

On the day Birmingham City splashed the cash on a new striker, their two signings from the summer netted important goals to beat Sheffield Wednesday.
Danish frontman August Priske watched on at Hillsborough as Marvin Ducksch and Kyogo Furuhashi struck late to hand Blues three precious points in the Championship.
As is often the case, the men in possession stepped up to send a message to their new teammate that they won’t be surrendering their places without a fight.
“It’s absolutely typical! It’s funny how it all works but as long as they’re going in,” said boss Chris Davies.
Ducksch has been Davies’ preferred partner for Jay Stansfield this season and the German netted his seventh goal of the season against Wednesday.
Now playing in his preferred position behind the main striker, Ducksch has four goals in his last four games.
Davies commented: “I’ve played him as a nine most of the time but I’ve put him back as a 10 in the last four games and he’s been thriving in that role because he’s a creative player with a good touch and good awareness. That was a real striker’s finish.”
Equally pleasing for Davies was the sight of Kyogo rounding Murphy Cooper to slot home his first Championship goal on his 31st birthday.
“It’s his birthday so we wished him a happy birthday before the game,” said Davies. “He had a couple of chances before that but he’s gone and taken the hardest one.
“Everyone is really pleased for Kyogo, you couldn’t ask for a better professional. He gives his all every day and we’re really pleased for him.”
