Two Sex and the City stars are just as upset as the next fan about how And Just Like That… ended, and have now shared their hopes for a continuation of the iconic show.
Last summer, the credits rolled on Carrie Bradshaw’s NYC love affair as the dramedy aired its series finale, ‘Party of One’. The ending divided fans, with some thinking the conclusion was abrupt and that central trio Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte deserved more episodes.
This week, Charlotte star Kristin Davis reunited with former co-star Mario Cantone, who played Anthony across both SATC and AJLT, to discuss if there could ever be more in store for their characters.
Appearing on Davis’ Are You a Charlotte? podcast, Cantone said he “just wanted one more season”.
“I agree. I absolutely wanted one more season, too,” Davis said as Cantone added: “I don’t care what anybody says, that was not a series finale. It was a season finale, but that wasn’t a series finale.”

Davis then said she’s yet to watch the series finale “because I’m in denial and I would like to remain that way”. She’s admittedly keeping her hopes up for a sequel as she said she believes the franchise is not over yet.
“This is not based on anything real,” Davis clarified.
“In my mind, we’re going to do something else. I don’t think it’ll be a whole season, but I think we will do something else,” she said.
“But obviously no one knows who owns us right now, you know. So there’s that that’s got to be worked.”
Davis also explained she has seen And Just Like That… showrunner Michael Patrick King “a couple times” and he hasn’t indicated a continuation could be in the cards.
“He doesn’t say that. But I’m just, in my hopeful way, you know, going with that,” the star said.

Last August, King announced the third season of the spin-off would be its last, adding that the series order had been extended to include two more episodes to wrap things up.
“While I was writing the last episode of And Just Like That… season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop. Along with Sarah Jessica Parker, Casey Bloys and Sarah Aubrey, we decided to end the popular series this year with a two-part finale and extended the original series order from 10 episodes to 12,” he wrote in a statement shared on social media.
“SJP and I held off announcing the news until now because we didn’t want the word ‘final’ to overshadow the fun of watching the season,” he added.
“It’s with great gratitude we thank all the viewers who have let these characters into their homes and their hearts over these many years,” King concluded, while protagonists Parker, David and Cynthia Nixon also paid tribute to the show.
Unlike the original Sex and the City, which has an average score of 70% on Rotten Tomatoes, And Just Like That…’s lacklustre storylines didn’t fully convince critics.
The spin-off has earned a meagre 52% on the platform, with season 3 currently sitting at 46% and being the second lowest-rated in the franchise — only the infamous Sex and the City 2 movie did worse, holding a brutal 16%.
