Punters were treated to the subsequent winner of the Aintree Grand National 12 months ago in the Goffs Thyestes Chase (3.30) so it will be fascinating to see what ‘the race that stops a county’ throws up today in Gowran Park.
Nick Rockett landed the €100,000 prize before taking the 2025 Liverpool showpiece – the third Thyestes winner since 2004 to do so – and heavy going amid a deluge of recent rain will make this even more of a slog than normal.
