Harry Wilson’s only involvement on his visit to Elland Road with Fulham was to rile the Leeds United crowd into huge noise. Even still, you’d take him in West Yorkshire in a heartbeat.

The Whites’ first port of call in the January transfer window was to address a shortcoming of Daniel Farke’s squad that has been present for years.

Facundo Buonanotte arrived on loan from Brighton to give Leeds that profile. An attacking midfielder that favours the right, is left-footed, and can conjure chances and goals out of thin air.

Harry Wilson opens door for Fulham exit in 2026 after Leeds United’s near agreement

Back in the summer window, Leeds’ attempts to sign a new attacking midfielder came to a frantic climax on deadline day. Harry Wilson was the name the 49ers fell back onto after Buonanotte snubbed us for Chelsea.

However, as a deal fell through for Fulham to replace Wilson, he stayed put and has gone on to have his best run of form in his career.

At Elland Road, he struggled, though. Anonymous in an attacking sense, his only meaningful contribution was sparking fury from the home fans. As Leeds searched for a winner, he was left in the dust by Gabriel Gudmundsson racing towards goal. Unable to catch him, Wilson hacked the Swede from behind and took a smart booking.

As the dust settles on Leeds’ crucial win, talkSPORT report that the Wales international is looking likely to leave Craven Cottage. While Marco Silva and co want him to stay, the seven-goal winger is leaning towards an exit, with his contract up in the summer.

Could Leeds United explore summer transfer for Harry Wilson?

What Leeds do in the summer window obviously depends on what unfolds in the survival battle. If we stay up, there could be an ambitious summer that awaits us.

Buonanotte’s performances on loan could have a big impact too. Are Brighton willing to let him leave permanently? I personally doubt it, but there’s scope for Leeds to explore that avenue.

If the Argentine isn’t attainable, then you do have to wonder if Leeds will keep Wilson in the crosshairs. The fact he could be available for free is remarkable after the season he’s had.

The problem here is the season he’s had. As a result, it puts him in view for several clubs eyeing a new right-winger in 2026.
