There’s plenty of shorties at Cheltenham, but Ruby’s eyeing up Kelce at a big price at Doncaster (14:05).

12:55 Doncaster – Carlenrig
There’s plenty in with chances in a competitive novice hurdle, but I’d have question marks about plenty of them at this trip. CARLENRIG did well to beat Thy Call Me Hugo over this trip last time out at Cheltenham, and I’m siding with him to reverse the form with Rocking Man from his hurdles debut at Chepstow. He has plenty of stamina and has only had two starts, so he’s open to plenty of improvement. He gets my vote in a trappy affair.
13:15 Cheltenham – Jagwar
JAGWAR definitely looks the one to beat. His comeback run at Cheltenham in December was a slowly run, tactical affair, and when it turned into a sprint, he just lacked the gears off the back of a layoff. He did well to finish as close as he did in third, and he’s only gone up 1 lb for that effort. He looks like he could still be well ahead of the handicapper, and I’ll be slightly disappointed if he doesn’t make amends.
FEET OF A DANCER looks like the one who’s still open to improvement, as Paul Nolan launches an attack on Doncaster. She wouldn’t have to improve out of sight to win this, and her last two starts were very respectable, and she was probably unlucky not to win over this trip at the Cheltenham Festival. Stepping back up to that trip, I’m siding with her to get the job done.
I’m siding with the two French raiders, each-way, against the favourite. The pair were third and fourth respectively in a cross-country chase at Cheltenham in December, tackling the course for the first time.
ICEO MADRIK led early and made some mistakes late in the play. If he can tidy up his jumping, he can go close off the same mark.
PLACENET was also prominent, and that was his first start since June. He should strip fitter, and also runs off the same mark. He’s a big player with that run under his belt.
14:05 Doncaster – Kelce
This looks like the trickiest race of the day, and sided with one at a price. KELCE gets in right down at the bottom of the weights, and Bradley Harris takes the ride for the Mulholland team. He was well fancied in an Amateur Jockeys Handicap Chase at Cheltenham in December, where he was slightly disappointing, but he bounced right back to form on St. Stephen’s Day at Aintree. He was second behind Fortunate Man on that occasion, but he only has to carry 10 st 5 lbs on Saturday. He looks worth taking a chance on.
Flooring Porter is best watched after a long layoff, but alongside L’homme Presse, they should guarantee a strong gallop. GREY DAWNING should be sitting just behind the pace, and Harry Skelton should be able to produce him coming down to the last. He looks the likeliest winner in a small field.
15:00 Cheltenham – Sir Gino
SIR GINO was brilliant in the Christmas hurdle, and I can’t oppose him. He’s still lightly raced and could still be improving, and he really should be winning this to solidify his Champion Hurdle credentials.
15:35 Cheltenham – Impose Toi
IMPOSE TOI will be looking to finish off a good day for punters, and he looks the winner to me. His market rival, Strong Leader, hasproved on several occasions that he’s not quite as effective at Cheltenham as he is on flatter tracks. That puts Impose Toi further ahead of the opposition, and he should confirm his Ascot form with Strong Leader and Doddiethegreat. He’s a short price, but I can’t see beyond him.
