Police have launched an investigation after gunshots were fired near a children’s playground in Erdington.

Officers responded to reports of gunshots fired towards a vehicle in Rowden Drive at around 11.40pm yesterday, May 2.

Thankfully no-one was hurt, police said.

The shooting in the residential street happened near Abbeyfields Park which has a children’s play area inside.

A police cordon remained in place today while forensic investigations continued.

Detectives were carrying out CCTV enquiries in the area and offering reassurances to shaken up locals.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “We’re investigating after reports of shots being fired towards a vehicle in Rowden Drive, Birmingham at around 11.40pm yesterday.

“Thankfully no-one was injured.

“We have a cordon in place as forensic investigations continue.

“Enquiries are also being carried out with CCTV being retrieved and reviewed as we work to establish who is responsible.

“We understand such incidents can cause alarm and officers are in the area to offer reassurance.
