The body of a man has been found at a park, sparking a major police presence. The discovery was made in Bristol on Tuesday morning (January 20) at Cotham Gardens after members of the public reported concerns for the welfare of a man.

One witness has said the area was soon “completely surrounded by police” reports BristolLive.

Another witness said that Cotham Gardens had been cordoned off.

The man’s death is currently being treated unexplained and investigations are ongoing, police said. A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police has said: “Officers were called at 7.45am today (Tuesday 20 January) to Cotham Gardens, in Bristol, after a member of the public raised concerns for an individual’s welfare.

“Sadly, despite the efforts of emergency personnel, a man was pronounced dead. His death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

“A scene remains in place and members of the public can expect to see a heightened police presence.”
