The Traitors fans have finally learned the fate of two fan favourites after their place in the game was left up to chance following a tense Round Table.

During last night’s episode (January 22), the players could not reach a decision on who to banish, with Faithful James and Traitor Rachel receiving the same amount of votes. A second round of voting once again ended in a stalemate.

Host Claudia Winkleman presented the pair with a chest each, but only one contained a shield. The player that opened the chest with the shield inside would be saved and make it to the final, while the other would be banished.

The result of the tense moment was revealed tonight, with James forced to leave the castle immediately after opening an empty chest.

In James’ exit speech, he said: “It’s been amazing. I’ve learned a lot about myself and it’s just been an incredible experience. I feel strangely serene right now, what a game. Thank you,” before revealing his identity as a Faithful.

“At the first Round Table when the blindfolds went on I was selected immediately, and have been from the start, a Traitful Faithful,” he quipped, briefly tricking his co-stars into thinking they had caught out a Traitor with his wording.

Fans rushed to social media to share their thoughts on the dramatic moment. One penned: “I’m gutted he’s gone, but I guess the heat’s on her now!” as another said: “I just can’t see how this isn’t a Traitors win from now!”

“Stephen will regret not voting for Rachel. He had a great opportunity to win this,” said a third. A fourth penned: “James was definitely a Marmite player but you can’t deny his chaotic nature wasn’t entertaining.”

After the Round Table, Rachel appeared to have clawed back some trust from the Faithfuls, notably from Faraaz who had started gunning for her.
