MONGYS WILD can capture
another big title with a powerful display at Central Park in
tonight’s £12,500 Arc Cesarewitch final at 8.30, live on PGR.
Boasting an impressive CV
which includes last year’s TV Trophy, Golden Jacket, Regency and St
Leger, the champion stayer can enjoy ample racing room early on
before winding up his challenge and gunning down his rivals late.
The Mark
Wallis-trained sensation (pictured)
races from trap three over the gruelling 731m trip with a vacant box
on his immediate outside due to the withdrawal of Crafty Prospero.
British Bred St Leger
winner Romeo Empire looks certain to lead but has proved looked
vulnerable late on. He can tow Mongys Wild around the first couple of
turns before giving best in the latter stages.
Sole wide seed Deadly
Disco looks the only danger to Mongys Wild in a clean-run race –
the Richard Rees-trained July 2022 whelp boasts three verdicts over
the favourite, including in last month’s George Curtis &
Ballyregan Bob Memorial final and last week’s semi-final.
However, Romeo Empire may
prove a tough nut to crack in the first half of the race and a battle
for early supremacy can only favour Mongys Wild.
Romford raider Princess
Matilda and local hope Burgess Sophia have been a credit to
connections in reaching the final but will rightly line up at big
prices.
There are three finals on
the supporting card, kicking off with the JenningsBet Sprint over
277m at 7.30.
Michelle Brown’s in-form duo Roanna Mamba and Pro Parker are both respected, but the Patrick Janssens-trained Yahoo Megan has crucially bagged a trap one draw.
She is prolific, classy
and game, and in a competitive decider can hold firm at the bend and
turn with a winning lead.
Julie Luckhurst’s Snowdon Mel impressed last week when making all in her JenningsBet Maiden Trophy heat over 491m and can flash out to make all again in the second of the finals at 7.50.
The JenningsBet Standard
Trophy decider at 8.10 is also over the four-bend trip and is one of
the toughest puzzles to solve on the card.
Maxine Locke’s Ballymac Axel has a touch of class about him and will prove tough to beat if he can steer a clear passage around the first two turns.
Kennelmate Racenight Mikey is well drawn in the opener at 5.30 on what could be a good night for the Romford trainer.
Locke also sends out likely favourite Bluejig Outlaw in the Arc Novice Stayers Trophy over 664m at 5.50 and classy sprinter Beaming Isla, who
has good form over 277m in Kent, for a two-bender at 6.10.
Coral Brighton Belle queen Runaway Dior is back in action after a lengthy layoff and Paul Donovan’s bitch has trialled well enough to warrant taking a chance on her making a winning return over 491m at 8.50.
Barry O’Sullivan’s Good Rainbow has made a smooth transition to six bends and is the other fancy on the card over 664m (9.10).
Taking a slight step up in
class, the local stayer has a bit to find on the clock but has the
early firepower to again race clear.
Yarmouth stages two opens this afternoon, with 2025 Track Championship winner Laugh Alot fancied to get back to winning ways in the first over 462m at 2.58 for Jane Craske.
Former Janssens inmate Gundy makes his debut for Craig Morris in the other, a sprint contest over 277m at 3.38. He is well drawn on the inside and can make a winning start for new connections.
Star Pelaw also has a number of opens this evening, with Glenn Foot’s recent Romford winner Untold Ariary the main fancy when she goes over 590m at 7.34.
