Leeds United may require a new left-back addition in the January window as concerns for Gabriel Gudmundsson emerge.
United’s primary focus this week has been to progress with a new striker signing. Jorgen Strand Larsen is the name Leeds are putting all the effort into right now, with a formal £30million bid emerging on Friday morning.
However, Daniel Farke’s team news makes it seem quite apparent that Leeds could do with considering another position before the deadline too.

Daniel Farke drops worrying Leeds United team news update on Gabriel Gudmundsson injury
A nine-day break between our victory over Fulham and the trip to Everton gives us ample time to rest after what’s been a hectic start to January.
Although, Farke confirmed in his pre-match press conference that left-back Gabriel Gudmundsson had to sit out of training on Thursday with an adductor issue.

The Leeds boss was unable to commit on whether he’d be available for this Monday’s game. Also, he noted that it may prompt the club to consider signing cover for the left-back position this window.
“Different options, not a natural option and for that, if there is a perfect option we won’t fall asleep,” Farke said, per the YEP.
“But we have James Justin who has played the same amount of games either side, Sam Byram has played a lot for us at left-back, Also a chance to position a more offensive player like we did with Willy Gnonto on the right. It depends on what is needed, which questions are asked during the game.”
Could Leeds United pursue Sunderland left-back Dennis Cirkin this January?
Farke’s comments here are as good as we’re going to get on him stating his intention to sign a left-back. He’s non-committal as usual, but willing to admit Gudmundsson’s fitness might force us into action.
So, looking at potential opportunities for Leeds to explore, there are a few deals that could be worth us going for.

Sunderland left-back Dennis Cirkin is a profile I’d like Leeds to try our luck with. The Black Cats’ squad being cut short by AFCON has meant that Cirkin has enjoyed a decent run of games in the Premier League of late, starting with a solid showing against us just after Christmas.
However, Reinildo’s return from duty with Mozambique has dropped Cirkin back to the bench. And, with just six months left on his contract at the Stadium of Light, he may be wondering what the future holds.
Regis Le Bris is sure to have another ambitious summer as Sunderland look for a top-half finish, and that would likely put Cirkin out of the picture.
The 49ers have previous for targeting players with dwindling contracts. Meanwhile, Cirkin’s handful of appearances since returning from a long-term absence has proven that he can hold his own in the Premier League.
