Lukas Jutkiewicz delivered an emotional speech to his Birmingham City teammates in the dressing room after the final match of his professional career.

The veteran striker has called time on his playing career after 358 appearances and 69 goals for Blues.

He played a vital role in their final day victory over Cambridge United. Although Jutkiewicz won’t be credited with the winning goal in Blues’ 2-1 triumph, Kelland Watts wouldn’t have put through his own net had it not been for the 36-year-old’s presence.

Speaking about Jutkiewicz’s impact, Blues manager Chris Davies said: “To be fair to him, he came on and had three or four chances all from his own movement and being in the right place.

“He was looking like he was going to score and he actually forces the goal. He should claim it.

“It’s one of those goals where his presence influences that goal. You can see they’re all so desperate for him to score, anyone was crossing the ball to him.

“He just spoke to the players quite beautifully about his time at the club and his career. I’m so pleased for him that he’s finished it like that.”

Jutkiewicz has been offered a role behind-the-scenes at Blues that he will take up after his summer break.
