Fans of The Masked Singer are convinced they have finally cracked the identity of Can of Worms after a growing list of clues appeared to point towards a major TV and music star.
The character has sparked speculation since its debut on the ITV competition. Ahead of tonight’s episode (January 24), one particular fan theory has gathered serious momentum online.
According to eagle-eyed viewers, eight separate clues all lead back to JLS singer and presenter Marvin Humes. The theory gained traction on Reddit, where one fan shared a detailed breakdown of moments from Can of Worms’ clues and performances that they believe link directly to Marvin, who rose to fame on The X Factor and is married to This Morning star Rochelle Humes.

One of the most talked-about hints came during a videotape featuring a yellow step in a garden marked with the words “naughty step”.
The fan behind the theory wrote: “Marvin has discussed using the ‘naughty step’ as a parenting technique for his children in interviews, and he and Rochelle have appeared on This Morning segments discussing parenting discipline.”
Other clues included references to being an “early bird” and visuals involving pastries and a bakery. Fans believe this could tie into Marvin and Rochelle’s regular appearances on morning television, where different breakfast recipes are regularly featured.
The phrase “written in the stars” also raised eyebrows. JLS famously collaborated with Tinie Tempah on Eyes Wide Shut, while Tinie released a hit single titled Written in the Stars.
Another moment that fuelled speculation was when viewers were shown images of Top Gear stars James May and Richard Hammond.
One person pointed out the reason why their initials might be significant, writing: “These are Marvin Humes’ initials (MH). This is a classic Masked Singer ‘initials’ clue.”
Gardening references have also played a big role in the theory. A can of worms shown sitting in greenery was said to nod towards the colour green, which fans associate with Marvin’s branding and JLS merchandise from the band’s early years.
A more obscure clue involved a courgette being shown at a public event. Fans suggested this could be a subtle reference to Marvin hosting the 2016 BAFTA Children’s Awards, the same year animated film My Life as a Courgette won Best Animated Feature.

The final clue that sealed the theory for many was a line about something “running in the family”. Fans believe this could be related to Marvin’s close bond with his JLS bandmates, who he has frequently described as his brothers.
Last week fans on social media seemed to be thinking along a similar vein. Viewers watching at home flooded X with comments, with one writing: “Is Marvin from JLS can of worms?!!”, while another said: “I swear I’ve just heard Marvin Humes’ voice.”
A third added: “Can of worms is definitely Marvin from JLS.” However, not everyone is convinced. Some fans have suggested fellow JLS member JB Gill could be behind the mask instead.
One wrote: “The JLS clues are obviously pointing people towards Marvin but, no, it’s JB. Can of Worms is most definitely JB Gill.” Others floated names such as Reggie Yates, Olly Murs and Mark Owen.
