Lavender House is on sale for £10 million(Image: )

An incredible house akin to a modern Crystal Palace with a bedside swimming pool could be yours – for £10m.

Five-bed Lavender House in Hampstead, North London, was once named in the Sunday Times’s top ten most beautiful homes in the world.

The property is so chic that singer Craig David had a similar home with the same glass pool designed and built just down the road in Camden.

The modernist house boasts retractable glass roofs, a private gym, three separate gardens, a private courtyard and a basement media room.

Architect Heidi Locher, who designed the house along with her late husband Richard Paxton, has now put it on the market for £10m.

The home’s glass walls and roofs echo Paxton’s relative, Joseph Paxton, who built London’s famous Crystal Palace in 1851, as well as letting in an abundance of natural light.

Oliver Hamilton, Director of Hamilton Property, described discreet Lavender House, which appears humble from its exterior, as an ‘exceptionally rare’ property.

The home centres around a stunning 40-foot, double-volume reception room illuminated by a pair of retractable glass roof panels and opening onto a garden via full-height, glazed sliding doors.

Running alongside this dramatic space is a bespoke glass swimming pool, which forms a unique architectural centrepiece.

Sitting just beyond the master bedroom, a glass wall recedes at the press of a button, revealing the water at the end of the bed.

At one end of the reception room is an open-plan kitchen and dining area, whilst the opposite comprises a fully-equipped gym.

Overlooking the pool, the master bedroom suite features a dressing room and indulgent his-and-hers bathrooms.

Four additional bedrooms include two suites beyond the gym, each featuring private sitting rooms, kitchenettes and access to a secluded garden patio.

A guest suite sits on the first floor, along with a self-contained studio or guest annexe with its own entrance, as well as a basement media room perfect for film screenings, and with a view of the pool from below.

Tucked away on Gayton Road, Lavender House also offers a quiet sanctuary amid the hustle and bustle of the city – despite being tucked behind vibrant Hampstead High Street.

The house is a stone’s throw from the boutiques, cafés and restaurants of the village, and within easy walking distance of the open expanses of Hampstead Heath.

“Opportunities to acquire homes of this calibre in the very best part of Hampstead are exceptionally rare,” Mr Hamilton, who recently starred on Netflix’s Buying London show and helped comedian Ricky Gervais find a new home, said.

“This is a house that genuinely stops you in your tracks. From the moment you step inside, the scale, light and craftsmanship are breathtaking.

“Lavender House is modern architecture at its absolute finest.”
