Starfield 2.0 PS5

The inevitable PS5 port of Starfield must be close, because word of the game’s supposedly huge 2.0 update is doing the rounds yet again.

All of this 2.0 talk started last year, when reports of a significant overhaul to the title’s space traversal system began to surface.

Then, the rumours evolved into this being part of an even bigger rework — 2.0 — which would launch alongside the aforementioned PS5 version.

Essentially, people are expecting this to be Starfield’s Cyberpunk 2077 moment, or something close to it. Honestly, the longer this speculation continues, the harder Bethesda’s job becomes.

But before we jump the gun, do we even have concrete evidence of Starfield 2.0 existing? Well, while there’s been no official word on the subject, prominent content creators have basically come out and said they were shown 2.0 at an event last year.

One such creator is MrMattyPlays, who’s the latest to back up these claims. Speaking on Xbox-focused podcast Defining Duke, the YouTuber says that he “saw [2.0] behind closed doors”, but also suggests that Bethesda’s intentions for the update are difficult to read.

Given that this isn’t the first time we’ve heard about 2.0 being shown to a select few — the event was outed by another content creator back in December — it’s fairly safe to say that the event did indeed happen, and that 2.0 exists.

It’s now just a question of when Bethesda will let the rest of us in on the big update. Again, we just can’t see the official reveal being that far away.
