NI Cup Semi-Final postponed
Wednesday’s BetMcLean League Cup Semi-Final between Glentoran and Coleraine has been postponed a day in advance due to the adverse weather conditions affecting Northern Ireland because of Storm Chandra.
The game, which was scheduled to be played tomorrow at 7:45pm at the east Belfast venue, has been called off as a result of storm damage and flooding and has already been rescheduled for Tuesday February 3 with the same kick-off time.
Should The Oval not pass a pitch inspection next Tuesday then the game would be reversed and played at the Coleraine Showgrounds a day later on Wednesday February 4, again with a 7:45pm kick-off.
The decision follows the Met Office’s amber weather warning for strong winds and, although the winds are supposed to die down overnight, a fresh yellow warning has been issued for ice on Wednesday morning, running from 3am to 10am.
Sunday’s League clash between the Glens and Cliftonville was postponed after the east Belfast pitch failed an early morning inspection.
The other League Cup Semi-Final between Linfield and Ballymena United, which was originally scheduled for 7:45pm on Tuesday night, is still set to take place in its rescheduled slot on Wednesday night after it was put back by 24 hours.
