6.30 Kempton

Pave The Way’s last-start victory is likely to be viewed as a surprise, given she was sent off at 40-1, having been beaten 19 and a half lengths and 38 lengths in her first two starts for Rimell.

However, the booking of Jack Mitchell that day hinted at something better, given the jockey has a 25 per cent strike-rate (7-28) when riding for Rimell, and there didn’t look to be much fluke about it. Wearing first-time blinkers, she was still going easily behind a wall of horses two furlongs out and found plenty once asked to score by a nose.

Pave The Way could well be underestimated by a 2lb rise and, with the headgear retained and Mitchell keeping the ride, there is every chance she can follow up.

Jky: Jack Mitchell Tnr: Mark Rimell
