A man in his 30s suffered multiple injuries to his arm and hand after being attacked by a dog.
Emergency services, including Merseyside Police and the North West Ambulance Service, responded to the scene in Aintree, according to an eyewitness.
Merseyside Police said they received reports around 6.15pm that a man had been bitten by a German Shepherd in the front garden of a property on Keble Drive.
It was reported that the owner subsequently restrained the dog.
The victim was taken to the hospital.
Officers attended the scene, seized the dog, and arrested its owner.
Merseyside Police said: “A 62-year-old man from Sefton was arrested on suspicion of being in charge of an out-of-control dangerous dog in a public place and other offences.
“He is in police custody to be questioned.”
