This should go to a newcomer with Paroda Diva showing only minor promise at Bath on Friday. Archie Watson’s Very Mindful is of interest, but George Boughey’s VIAMARIE is preferred. Her half-brother, The Actor, was an early 2yo last year, and she’s been “working nicely” and “showing plenty of pace,” according to a recent Stable Tour.

No less than six previous winners in this novice contest for fillies. Kon Tiki, Opera Score, and Stateira all look nice prospects, but LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL is the pick. She clocked a decent time (2.65 seconds quicker than the other division) when making a winning start over C&D in November.

This revolves around COSMIC YEAR, a general 8-1 chance for the 2,000 Guineas having looked so good on his sole start at two. Surely only the newcomers can pose a threat – Hit Squad, National Park, and Roaring Twenties are favoured in that order.

Yorkshire can get back on track if settling better than last time while Oisin Murphy returning to the saddle is a positive for Blue Prince (second choice), who shaped best at Southwell last time. GRAND KARAT is the one with the most potential, though, and he is preferred.

A clash between the 3yos and their elders, and both camps have some interesting contenders. Court Drive, Four Adaay, Kensington Agent, and Papabella (second choice) are considered for the older brigade, but BERMUDA PRINCESS may be the answer.

She’s bred to be useful and although she is yet to make the frame, her seasonal/stable debut two weeks ago was more promising than the bare figures of a 4l sixth might suggest. The move she made early in the straight offers hope that she’ll benefit from the return to 6f and that first start since July may have been needed.

Michael Bell has had 13 winners from 37 runners this year, and YESTERDAYS GONE (NAP) looks up to making a winning handicap debut with today’s extra furlong very much in her favour. Rumba Bay (drawn wide) and Oisin Murphy’s mount Arlecchino’s Rex (well beaten, although met trouble on more than one occasion, last time) have downsides, so perhaps Off The Bench will emerge as the chief threat.

The form of Justenzia’s last novice run reads pretty well in the context of this race, and she should give the males something to think about if staying the trip. Fellow handicap debutant GODSTONE, who was noted doing some nice late work in a C&D maiden two runs ago, is preferred though.
