A cyclist was robbed by men with a knife in Kirkby this evening, Wednesday, January 28. Merseyside Police received a call just before 7pm reporting the male victim was cycling along Mill Lane when he was approached by two unknown men on a Sur-ron motorbike.
The men asked the cyclist who the bicycle belonged to. A Merseyside Police spokesman said: “They then moved towards him, and as they did so he threw the bike to the ground and ran away towards Hill Park Crescent in fear.
“The two males caught up with him carrying a knife and struck the victim several times, during which he fell to the ground and his watch was stolen.”
The victim, a man in his 30s, sustained a cut lip which required medical treatment. CCTV and witness enquiries are being carried out, and anyone with any information is asked to contact police.
Inspector Daniel Greenhalgh said: “This was a terrifying experience for the victim who sustained injuries as a result.
“We are in the early stages of the investigation and are conducting a number of lines of enquiries to find the two offenders.
“I would urge anyone who has information which will assist the investigation to contact us so we can bring them to justice.”
