Leeds United’s hopes of signing Jorgen Strand Larsen from Wolves may hinge on how the 49ers navigate their PSR threshold. So, any incoming funds could be massive.
Fans were justifiably left underwhelmed during the summer as Leeds’ summer window was blown out of the water by fellow promoted side Sunderland.
PSR is the culprit there. Leeds are toeing a much tighter line than the Black Cats, meaning we’ve got very little room for manoeuvre during the final days of the January transfer window.
How can Leeds United finance stunning £40million Jorgen Strand Larsen transfer and stay within PSR limit?
As a result of that £100million summer outlay, Leeds have “maxed out” PSR and therefore won’t be able to broker a permanent deal for Jorgen Strand Larsen without some clever outgoing business too.
Whether it’s a permanent sale, or other means, Leeds could do with cash coming in before July 1 to reinvest on the first half-year of an amortised Strand Larsen fee.

One development to monitor is Charlie Cresswell. The England U21 international is thriving at Toulouse since leaving Leeds for £3.8million in the summer of 2024.
As a result, he’s subject to a lot of interest this month from Premier League and Bundesliga clubs. Leeds, though, smartly added in a sell-on clause. It entitles us to 15% of any profit made by the Ligue 1 side.
Charlie Cresswell subject to Crystal Palace enquiry that could land Leeds United big PSR boost – Fabrizio Romano
Ironically, Leeds’ PSR boost from Cresswell’s sell-on clause may well come from a direct rival.
Fabrizio Romano reports that both Brighton and Crystal Palace are interested in signing the Thorp Arch graduate before the deadline. Additionally, offers as high as £21.7million have been knocked back by Toulouse.
🚨🏴 Toulouse have rejected two bids for Charlie Cresswell.
€24m proposal from Brighton, turned down.
€25m package from Wolfsburg, turned down.

Unfortunately for Leeds, Toulouse intend to keep the player until the summer. That said, Palace are under significant pressure to address the Marc Guehi-sized hole in their back three in the coming days. Don’t discount them from a potential relegation scrap.
Should Palace be forced to stump up the asking price, Leeds would benefit. How much Leeds earn obviously depends on the fee agreed. Taking the £21.7million offer as an example: that would net the Whites £2.69million – a higher offer would bring even more.
Charlie Cresswell proving his worth away from Leeds United and potentially getting Premier League opportunity
When Leeds brought Cresswell back from his Millwall loan, it looked as though we had a very talented squad option ready and waiting.
Then Joe Rodon joined. Unfortunately, Cresswell found himself pushed back in the pecking order behind one of the most inspired defensive signings Leeds have made in my living memory of the club (I’m 27, just FYI).
Good for Cresswell, though. He’s backed himself to leave the club and prove why he should have been trusted more. He’s doing so well in France.
In turn, that gives him a genuine Premier League opportunity very soon. That is, if Palace or Brighton firm up their interest with a better offer.
While Leeds’ hands were tied on Cresswell, rightly favouring Rodon, we should be hoping he makes this big move as soon as possible.
