Wolves boss Rob Edwards insisted that his club were not under any pressure to sell Jorgen Strand Larsen to Leeds United this window.

The Whites have less than a week left in the January window to get the all-important striker deal over the line, and any other potential business being considered.

How they navigate talks for our priority target, Jorgen Strand Larsen, remains to be seen. There are significant PSR obstacles to traverse, plus rival interest.

What has Rob Edwards said about Leeds United signing Jorgen Strand Larsen from Wolves?

For Wolves, their fight to stay in the Premier League under Rob Edwards is sure to be a futile one. Hence, we’re seeing several star players linked with moves away from Molineux before an expected return to the EFL.

Strand Larsen is one of those that could be on the move. However, Edwards was keen to set the record straight on Wolves’ need to sell the 25-year-old striker.

“He’s been great, he’s trained really well. He’ll be part of the squad tomorrow, so no change,” Edwards told the BBC prior to Wolves’ defeat at Manchester City last time out. “That’s just all I’m looking at the moment, so seeing a player with a focus and a really good attitude.

“We’re not under any pressure to sell at all. We want to try and be as strong as we can throughout this period now. So, unless we feel it’s the right thing for the football club, no-one will go. No-one’s been knocking on my door. They’ve all shown a really good attitude and a desire to be here and train. But as long as that continues then it’s pretty straightforward.”

Rob Edwards may be forced to backtrack on selling stance as Leeds United persist on Jorgen Strand Larsen

The fact of the matter is, Edwards’ stance is what any manager would say about their player. Saying he’d be happy to sell as the club is under pressure would instantly drop his value overnight.

That being said, it’s fairly clear that Wolves are not in a position where they can sit on high-value assets with relegation pending.

A report from i News backs up this idea:

“The i Paper understands that Leeds remain at the table to sign the 25-year-old despite that bid falling short, with the player very keen to seal a switch to West Yorkshire. Strand Larsen’s former Premier League playing agent, Tore Pedersen is, in fact, a season ticket-holder at Elland Road,

“Wolves are looking for closer to £40m for the Norwegian, but they do need to sell now as their bargaining position will not be as strong in the summer, when they are almost certainly going to be a Championship club again.”

Leeds United need to give Wolves an offer they won’t refuse on Jorgen Strand Larsen

The only way we’re going to get a deal agreed is by paying up what Wolves want for the striker.

Of course, Edwards says that Wolves aren’t under pressure to sell. We all know that finances post-relegation suggest they absolutely do need to cash in, and we’re surely not far from reaching an agreeable sum.

Time is wearing thin on this matter, though. You’d hope that Leeds have an alternative in place, in the even that Wolves don’t budge in these talks.

That being said, I’m reasonably confident we come to an agreement – we weren’t far away with a £30million plus add-ons bid, so there’s not much ground to make up.
