Joe Calzaghe is the longest reigning super middleweight world champion in boxing history after he held the World Boxing Organisation title for over ten years, despite 20 opponents trying to take it.
The now retired boxer competed for 15 years, from 1993 to 2008, and during this time he held multiple world championships in two weight classes, including unified and lineal titles at super-middleweight and the Ring magazine light-heavyweight title.
Super-middleweight is fighters weighing between 73 to 76kg.
In the last two years of his career, Calzaghe was ranked by The Ring as one of the world’s top ten active boxers as well as winning BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award in 2007.
Since the end of his career he has still been a big part of the boxing industry and sometimes spends his time giving talks.

Calzaghe is appearing at The Courtyard in Hereford for a meet a talk about his life and career tonight, January 28, at 7.30pm
