Looking for a relaxed way to unwind, meet new people, and talk about great books? New Wortley Community Centre’s Book Club might be just the chapter you’re missing!
The group meets fortnightly on Thursdays from 6–7pm – the next meet being Thursday, 5 February.
Beck, who runs the group, said: “While we already have a lovely, welcoming crowd, we’re always keen to turn the page and welcome new members.
“Whether you’re a lifelong bookworm or someone who’s only recently rediscovered the joy of reading, there’s a place for you at our table.”
The book club is all about good conversation in good company. There’s no pressure to be an expert or to have all the answers — just come along ready to share your thoughts, listen to others, and enjoy a friendly hour surrounded by people who love stories.
“We read a wide mix of books, so there’s always something new to discover, and the discussions are as varied (and sometimes surprising!) as the reads themselves,” added Becki.
“Most importantly, it’s meant to be fun. Expect laughs, thoughtful chats, differing opinions, and that warm feeling you get from being part of a community. It’s a great way to break up the week, try books you might not normally pick up, and connect with others in the area.”

So if your ‘to-be-read’ pile needs some inspiration — or you just fancy a cosy, social hour — why not give them a try? Pop along to New Wortley Community Centre and see what they’re all about for only £1.50 and refreshments and books provided!
