Police in Edinburgh have been carrying out patrols at various beauty spots in the capital in a bid to crackdown on anti-social behaviour.

Police Scotland Edinburgh informed locals they were conducting high-vis and plain clothed patrols as part of operation Howden.

Officers were at different spots within the south-east of the city including The Meadows.

They urged locals to get in touch if they have any concerns moving forward.

A statement on social media reads: “Operation Howden aims to deter anti-social behaviour in Edinburgh south-east.

“Over the last three days, community officers have been conducting high-vis and plain clothes patrols in hot-spot areas.

Back in March, officers were hoping to prevent disorder and provide reassurance to the public after a surge in anti-social behaviour.

Police Scotland wrote online: “This Friday and Saturday, officers will be deployed on foot patrols to tackle youth antisocial behaviour.

“We will support city centre Response and Community officers to prevent disorder and provide reassurance to the public.

“Fun has limits, don’t cross them.”
