Sofia Gómez Villafañe and Mads Würtz Schmidt lit up the gravel roads of Girona with perfectly timed late-race attacks to win the 2025 edition of The Traka 200 on Saturday.
After Friday’s mud-soaked slugfest in the 360km ultra-distance, Saturday’s shorter 200km course saw drier conditions and higher speeds in Europe’s premier gravel weekend.
In the women’s race, Gómez Villafañe was locked in a tug-of-war with Unbound 200 champion Rosa Klöser before unleashing a final surge to take her maiden Traka title.

The Argentine, who admitted she came in “pretty tired” after a stacked April racing calendar, rode aggressively from the gun.
“Today was my first Traka, and I wanted to experiment a bit and see how the race went,” said Gómez Villafañe. “I had a good rhythm on the first climbs, and I was descending like, well, if I get a puncture, I don’t care. The selection was getting smaller and smaller.”

Klöser clung on to take second, while former XC world mountain bike champion Annika Langvad crossed the line third.
In the men’s race, ex-WorldTour road pro Würtz Schmidt dropped his rivals with a late solo move to take the win ahead of three-time Cape Epic champion Matthew Beers.
Italian Filippo Conca grabbed the final podium spot in a wild race in the hills around Girona.
Racing action continues Sunday with The Traka 100.
