A 25-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with alleged vandalism at a bank branch in Glasgow city centre. Overnight on Friday, January 30, the HSBC in Buchanan Street was targeted.

It is understood red paint has been thrown over the front of the branch, and that windows have been left smashed following the incident. A police cordon has been put in place and officers remain on the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.20am on Friday, 30 January, 2026, police received a report of a vandalism at a commercial property in Buchanan Street, Glasgow.

“A 25-year-old woman has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing.”

It’s not the first time the HSBC on Buchanan Street has been targeted, with a similar incident also occurring on December 12 last year.

Part of Buchanan Street and Argyle Street was taped off by police after red paint was thrown up the building and some windows were left smashed.
