High river levels combined with overnight rainfall of 12mm mean low-lying areas could flood later today, January 30.

The greatest risk is expected around high tide at Southampton, forecast for 9.15pm and 10.30pm, when incoming tides will prevent the river from draining to the sea.

The Environment Agency warns this could lead to flooding of the access road and car park near the White Swan pub at Mansbridge, with footpaths in Riverside Park also at risk.

Although tomorrow morning’s high tide at 9.30am is forecast to be slightly lower, similar impacts are still possible.

Authorities are monitoring conditions closely and working with Southampton City Council.

People in affected areas are advised to check flood maps, prepare any flood protection measures, and follow official guidance.
