African wildcat found in Roscommon is now being cared for in Wexford

An exotic and wild animal that was found in a severely emaciated state in the back garden of a Roscommon home is now thriving in the safe surrounds of Secret Valley Wildlife Park in Wexford.

Just a few weeks ago, Zeus, an African wildcat (serval), wandered into a woman’s back garden in Roscommon who alerted the relevant authorities for their assistance. Only for the woman spotting the wild animal when she did, “he would have been dead the next day”.
