One journalist claims there’s no chance of a significant Liverpool transfer going through. A change of heart?
There are now only a couple of days remaining in the January transfer window. Liverpool have struck precisely zero first-team transfers, of course, but there is still time.

Suggestions from certain quarters are they the Reds will try to bring in a right-back. It’s a position lacking in numbers right now – both Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong are out injured, with Bradley out for the rest of the season.
But what about outgoings? Liverpool nearly sold Andy Robertson to Tottenham Hotspur last week, only for the deal to collapse despite an agreement.
Now there’s another potential departure from the first-team squad. Although, it sounds like the deal might be off, too.
Liverpool won’t lose Curtis Jones
News broke on Friday evening that Inter had approached Liverpool about Curtis Jones. They wanted a loan deal with an option to buy – a truly bizarre suggestion but one they’ve clearly had some sort of encouragement on.
It seems, though, that Liverpool have said ‘no’. Journalist Ben Jacobs has now ruled out the possibility of Jones leaving, saying the Reds will not sanction a deal. Or at least, they have no plans to.
“Liverpool have no plans to sell Curtis Jones,” he wrote on Twitter.
“Inter Milan have been linked with a move, while Spurs considered Jones prior to Conor Gallagher’s arrival, but Liverpool have no plans to sanction an exit.”
It doesn’t exactly sound as though Liverpool will hold onto Jones for long, though. Spurs thought they could sign him, Inter thought it, too – and there are only 16 months remaining on his contract.
Honestly, it all gives the impression that the club may have said ‘yes’ earlier in the window, let alone this coming summer. For now, though, Jones will remain at Anfield.
