One of the city’s most famous hotels is set to celebrate a huge milestone. The Hard Day’s Night Hotel on North John Street in Liverpool city centre has welcomed thousands of Beatles fans through its doors since opening in February 2008. The hotel, which is said to be the only in the world inspired by the Fab Four, offers an “all-round Beatles experience,” according to hotel manager Liam Baker-Bellew.
Liam, who is from Wavertree, has been manager since October 2023. He told the ECHO how every detail has to be right, from check-in to check-out, to give guests a stay they’ll never forget. He said: “Our guests don’t just check into a normal four-star hotel. That’s not what we’re about here. You’re coming to check in for an experience.
“You’re coming in to check in to immerse yourself and, you know, get into bed basically with the Beatles. That’s what it’s all about. And for me, it’s so nice to see guests that are coming here just for that.
“We’re learning things every single day about the Beatles as well, including myself. I’m 40 in four weeks and they weren’t around when I was younger, but what an iconic tribute to give to a band that has left a huge legacy in the city and around the world.

“So that check-in experience has to be spot on. It has to be just right, even down to when you’re checking in, the volume of the music, the Beatles, the songs, what we’re actually presenting to our guests on check-in, even from check-out as well. We’re giving them that all-round Beatles experience.”
Guests will find memorabilia, original signed copies of gold discs and personal items from The Beatles around the hotel. They’ll also find incredible artwork from celebrated artist and musician, Shannon MacDonald, who is described as ‘the world’s greatest Beatles artist’.
After working with the Hard Day’s Night Hotel for nearly two decades, and creating more than 100 pieces of artwork, Shannon’s final painting for the hotel will be revealed at an event next Friday (February 6).
Until the moment of its reveal, the painting will remain a closely guarded secret, to be unveiled live in the hotel lounge by Shannon, alongside friend and Cavern Club owner Bill Heckle.

The painting’s reveal coincides with the launch of Hard Day’s Night Hotel ‘The Inside Story’, a 224-page, limited-edition hardcover coffee table book, that chronicles the journey behind the creation of the Beatles-inspired hotel.
Liam added: “Shannon’s artwork is all over the hotel. It represents Shannon in the best possible light. Shannon has been at Hard Day’s Night since it all began. She’s part of the furniture. All of her artwork is situated in all 110 bedrooms, and it’s situated in the lounges, in our event spaces as well.
“The detail that’s gone into those pictures from Shannon herself, just goes to show that there’s dedication and an absolute true passion from Shannon herself. She paints and she draws a vision and that vision comes to life with all of her paintings, which is fantastic to see. I’ve got it all over my office. It’s the last piece of the jigsaw for her.
“[The event] is our opportunity to thank Sharon and Bill Heckle for the hard work that they’ve put in. Before my time, it was a project for them, but that project has paid off. I want to dedicate our time and effort into making a successful night and recognise them both for what they’ve done for the hotel and for the city, and keeping the Beatles imagery alive.
“It’s an absolute pleasure to be hosting such an event for her in such an iconic building, which is going to be a fantastic night, I’m sure of it.”
