All services running between Manchester Victoria and Chester stations have been cancelled this evening (January 31) due to a fault on the line.
In a post at 9:30pm Northern Rail said the line was blocked in both directions due to a points failure, with disruption expected until 3am tomorrow (February 1).
Network Rail are said to be aware of the fault, with engineers on site, and earlier services terminating at Earlestown in Cheshire.
