A 90-year-old man was rushed to hospital after suffering multiple injuries

A man is fighting for his life after he was hit by a car on Walton Hall Avenue. Merseyside Police received reports that a man had been hit by a silver Vauxhall Corsa just 10.25pm last night (Saturday, January 31).
The victim, a 90-year-old man, suffered multiple injuries and was rushed to hospital, where his condition is described as critical.
The driver of the car, a man in his 50s, stopped at the scene and has assisted with enquiries.
Parts of Walton Hall Avenue remain closed this morning, from Queens Drive leading away from the city centre, as police continue with their forensic examinations of the scene.
Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after the man was seriously injured.
Sergeant Phil Everett, from the Roads Policing Unit, said: “An elderly man is in a critical condition in hospital following this incident, and our officers are working hard to establish the full circumstances of the collision.

“We would like to hear from anyone who might have been driving in the area of Walton Hall Avenue at about 10.25pm on Saturday who saw any part of this incident. If you have dashcam, please check it in case you have captured evidence that could prove vital to our enquiries.
“If you live locally and have CCTV, please get in touch so we can review it and build an accurate picture of how this happened.”

Traffic site Inrix says: “A580 Walton Hall Avenue outbound closed due to accident investigation work from A5058 Queens Drive to Stanley Park Avenue North.
“Following a serious accident overnight. The road is likely to remain closed well into Sunday morning.”
