Arsenal winger Noni Madueke will be even happier after his incredible performance against Leeds United.

In the minutes leading up to Arsenal’s clash with Leeds, Madueke wouldn’t have expected his involvement to have been as key as it was.

That’s because the 23-year-old started the afternoon thinking he would be a substitute; however, Bukayo Saka’s injury in the warm-up meant that he was promoted to the starting XI.

Madueke had little time to prepare, but he was fired up enough to heavily influence Arsenal’s 4-0 win, with his afternoon made even more celebratory 24 hours later.

Noni Madueke has been awarded his goal against Leeds United

For all of the positives in Madueke’s performance against Leeds, there was one thing missing in the winger’s eyes.

After the game, Madueke was fuming that he wasn’t awarded a goal, as at first, the Premier League credited his effort from the corner to Karl Darlow.

It was another own goal that Arsenal benefitted on, but things have changed since.

In an official statement, the Premier League confirmed on X that the goal has been attributed to Madueke.

“The goal accreditation panel has adjudged Arsenal’s 38th-minute goal as a Madueke goal.”

It’s an unsurprising verdict, as Madueke’s effort was on target and going in, with Darlow’s involvement minimal.

The moment is special as it marks Madueke’s first Premier League goal for Arsenal since making the switch from Chelsea in the summer.

Madueke is building form in preparation to face Chelsea

It’s been a busy week for Madueke, who had a frustrating outing against Kairat Almaty before making his presence truly count at Elland Road.

Though Saka is thought to have suffered a niggle, it would be wise for Arteta to manage his star player’s minutes when Chelsea visit N5 on Tuesday.
