A brawl at a South London nightclub in the early hours of this morning (February 1) sent five people to hospital. Police were called to Camberwell Road shortly before 2.40am amid reports of a large fight.
Paramedics treated the group at the scene before taking them for further treatment. The extent of their injuries is currently unclear. Each of the five patients were later arrested in connection, the Metropolitan Police said in a statement.
They remain in custody, pending further enquiries. Investigators are now working to piece together the moments leading up to the altercation.
A cordon has been in place for over 12 hours, blocking access from Camberwell Green to Bowyer Place. 13 bus routes are also on diversion, Transport for London has confirmed.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “We were called to a report of a fight at a club on Camberwell Road, Camberwell at around 02:39hrs on Sunday, 1 February. Five people were treated by London Ambulance Service at the scene before being taken to hospital.
“They were all arrested in connection with the incident and remain in custody. A crime scene and road closure remains in place while officers investigate this incident.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact 101, quoting CAD 902/01FEB.
The London Ambulance Service has been contacted for more information.
