The Kingston Bridge has reopened after being closed due to an overturned van in Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to a one-vehicle crash that happened at around 12.05pm on Sunday, February 1. Drivers heading westbound on the M8 were warned of delays and encouraged to take an alternative route.

Images from the scene show the vehicle on its side blocking the on-ramp to the bridge. Police put in place diversions via the Clydeside Expressway.

In an update, Traffic Scotland confirmed that the bridge has now reopened. A spokesperson told Glasgow Live: “All lanes have now reopened on the M8 westbound at the Kingston Bridge following a road traffic incident. Delays have now fallen below the reporting threshold.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland wrote: “The M8 is closed westbound at the Kingston Bridge following a one-vehicle crash reported to police around 12.05pm on Sunday, 1 February. There are no reported injuries.

“Diversions are in place via the Clydeside Expressway. There is no access to the Kingston Bridge and road users are advised to avoid the area and seek an alternative route.”
