Plans to transform the space above Costa Coffee at 2-8 London Street into five flats have been lodged with Norwich City Council.

The scheme, put forward by Reiba Limited proposes redeveloping the first and second floor of the building, which is currently used as storage and offices.

The scheme would consist of three three-bedroom flats and a pair of two-bedroom flats across the two floors.

The development would be car-free in line with national and local planning policies, which seek to reduce the use of cars in urban centres.

Plans explain: “The property is situated in a highly sustainable location, with Norwich railway station and multiple bus stops within easy walking distance.

“Local shops, services and employment opportunities are immediately accessible on foot.

“The surrounding area is characterised by a mixture of land uses including residential development in addition to commercial and business uses.”

Norwich City Council will now consider the change of use application.
