Deadline day is living up to its hectic reputation as Liverpool get their affairs in order before this evening’s market close.

The big news of the day is Jeremy Jacquet agreeing to a Liverpool move, but there are plenty of other stories to monitor.

CHANGE MY MIND: This WILL be Liverpool’s best XI after Jacquet arrives!

Isak HAS to play and wing-backs will give Slot the pace he’s been crying out for…

Spurs have called about Andy Robertson, though he and Curtis Jones are expected to stay at the club.

There is, however, a confirmed arrival at Anfield today, and it could be bad news for Trey Nyoni.

James McConnell returns to Liverpool after decision to terminate Ajax loan

Arne Slot will see another body added to the midfield unit after James McConnell’s loan termination.

Ajax released a club statement where they announced his return to Liverpool and wished the 21-year-old well after half a season together.

McConnell was linked with a Liverpool return since before Christmas, after failing to take the Eredivisie by storm.

He’s a player Slot likes, and there’s a chance he can play an important role in what’s left of the season.

That could force the Dutchman to go back on his word to Nyoni.

Arne Slot told Trey Nyoni he’s on the verge of the first-team

Nyoni is an unbelievable prospect, and someone seen as having a part to play at Liverpool long-term.

Slot promised more minutes for Nyoni this season, having been mostly left out in the cold to this point. He said: “I think Trey showed when he came in that he comes closer and closer to a situation where I can also bring him in.”

The arrival of a slightly more experienced option in McConnell could make it difficult to stick to his word.

Liverpool are out of throwaway fixtures now, so minutes for the youngsters will be even harder to come by.

It might be that only one of Nyoni and McConnell can play a part — a tough decision for the manager, who clearly rates them both.
