Pat Lam is reported to be looking to bolster his Bristol Bears squad with three of Champ Rugby’s top performers.

Bristol are understood to have signed Exeter Chiefs hooker Sol Moody, who has spent the season on dual registration with second-tier side Cornish Pirates, notching eight tries this season, including four in a 45-24 win against Ampthill last month.

At just 20 years old, 6ft 1in Moody is certainly a signing with one eye on the future, but an intriguing addition all the same with the Bears well stocked at hooker with England international Gabriel Oghre, veteran Harry Thacker, who marked his 150th appearance for the club in Sunday’s 16-8 defeat to Gloucester Rugby in the PREM Rugby Cup, and Bristolian Will Capon currently on the books.

Moody is yet to make a senior appearance for Exeter Chiefs, who brought in Springbok Joseph Dweba and Australian Julian Heaven last summer and have club captain Jack Yeandle to call upon.

However, Moody has made 27 appearances for the Pirates over the last two seasons to gain plenty of experience in competitive senior rugby at a young age.

RugbyPass reports the Bears are also keen on signing Worcester Warriors number eight Khalik Kareem, who came through the ranks at Bath but made just one senior appearance off the bench for the Blue, Black and White in the PREM Rugby Cup, however, he has been making a name for himself at Sixways this season.

Kareem, 21, who can also play on the blindside, has scored three tries in 14 games for Worcester Warriors in Champ Rugby this season and is also reported to be attracting interest from Sale Sharks, with their director of rugby Alex Sanderson on the lookout for a replacement for Dan du Preez, who is rumoured to be joining Bath.

Looking at the Bears backrow resources heading into 2026/27, Bristol director of rugby Lam will soon have to make a decision on the future of 34-year-old former All Black Steven Luatua, who signed a one-year extension last season but has spent most of the campaign injured.

As previously reported, the Bears are also understood to be chasing Ealing Trailfinders winger Tobi Wilson, who has scored six tries in 10 games this season.
