Cordons remain in place in Greater Manchester

Counter-terrorism police have made five arrests across the UK as part of a Metropolitan Police operation.

Three men have been arrested in Greater Manchester, with another arrest in Swindon and one in London.

Here in Greater Manchester, the arrests have took place on East Street, Rochdale, and Heathbank Road, hulme>Cheadle Hulme – as well as a third undisclosed location in Manchester – on Saturday evening.

Searches continue at a number of properties and the men, four of whom are believed to be Iranian nationals, all remain in custody for questioning.

The counter terrorism raids linked to a ‘plot to target specific premises’. That specific premises has not yet been identified.
