Here is an update on Promise Omochere and Tom Lockyer ahead of Bristol Rovers’ League Two game against Chesterfield

After a run of 15 defeats in 17 games under Darrell Clarke and Steve Evans, Bristol Rovers have now won their last two league matches under the latter, lifting them seven points clear of the League Two relegation zone.
The injury list has also started to decrease in recent weeks, with Josh McEachran returning to the bench against Newport County and Ellis Harrison, who missed Evans’ first three games, starting the last three matches.
The club’s record signing, Promise Omochere, is also nearing a return after being absent from every matchday squad since picking up an injury in the 4-0 defeat at Crawley Town on October 25.
Currently, the two main absentees who look set to miss the game on Saturday are Tom Lockyer and Macauley Southam-Hales, with Evans providing an update on the former in today’s press conference at The Quarters.

“Tom is maybe two weeks away. Maybe two weeks Saturday, he’ll be fit for selection, but he’s ahead of schedule. Tom Lockyer, I’m going to use a pun that he’ll laugh at in this particular week, but he’s got the heart the size of Big Ben.
“It’s probably why he’s on this planet, and he’s got the heart the size of Big Ben and Tom will do for me every day of the week, so he’s got a big part to play.”
Promise Omochere – Update on February 5
“I must say, Promise trained very well this morning. He’s training very well. Listen, if I’m Promise, my head suddenly turns 360 degrees when I see Ellis playing the way he’s playing. I see Fab, who’s a goalscorer. I see Mees, who’s improving every session, every day. And I see Joe Quigley’s car driving in the car park. I’m thinking it’s game on even to get a shot here, never mind a starting shirt.

“But what has to be said is Promise against my teams for Fleetwood was very, very good. Top player, most clubs wanted him.
“Bristol Rovers won the fight to get him, paid good money for him, but he’s back on the grass and training very well. So, I’m gonna need a few more sessions like that from Promise, but we know what he can deliver, so we’re excited to be working with him.”
Macauley Southam-Hales – Update on January 27
“Yeah, he’s gone for the season. I would think if he comes back for the last three, four weeks, we’d be pleased.
“Let’s hope we’re in a position when he comes back to get the kid back active because he’s a good player.”
