RCB pacer Yash Dayal was praised by his father, Chanderpal Dayal, who also thanked Virat Kohli for supporting his son during tough times. This came after RCB’s two-run win over CSK at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 3.

With 15 runs needed in the final over, Dayal got the key wicket of MS Dhoni and kept Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja silent to seal the win. It was a repeat of his success in the final over in the RCB vs CSK match during the IPL 2024, where he had bowled well against Dhoni and Jadeja to help RCB reach the playoffs.

He had to face a tough moment in 2023, when Rinku Singh hit him for five sixes in a single over with KKR needing 29 runs.

“Virat Kohli has played a big role in supporting Yash. After Yash joined RCB, Virat would often invite him to his room or even visit Yash’s room himself. They spoke about the tough over from 2023, and Virat told him, ‘Keep working hard, toofan macha de. Main hoon tere saath. Chinta mat karna. Mehnat karna mat chhodna. Galtiyan karna, par seekhna aur aage badhna. Virat gave him the freedom to express himself and helped him become a confident cricketer.

“I’ve seen many bowlers lose confidence, but Virat has personally helped them bounce back,” he said.

Chanderpal Dayal was sure his son would win the contest for RCB in the final over against CSK. The Men in Yellow looked set to chase down 213, needing 43 runs from the last four overs. But brilliant death bowling from RCB’s pacers and leg-spinner Suyash Sharma helped them pull off a stunning win.

“In cricket, it’s not over until the final ball is bowled. Yash is more mature now. I think even the fans and his family lost hope. But I believed he could do it, and he did. Staying calm made all the difference in this match,” he added..

The victory took RCB to the top of the table with 16 points from 11 games. They will next face Lucknow Super Giants on May 9.
