Trams were forced to run short in both directions – between the Airport and Edinburgh Park and between Haymarket and Newhaven- leaving commuters facing delays.
The full route was back up and running less than an hour later but passengers were warned of extended wait times as services returned to the normal timetable.
One patient was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
Their condition is not yet known.
