Serie A giants Juventus are reportedly targeting a move for Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund in the summer transfer window after Ruben Amorim made a fresh decision on his future.

Whatever happens in the Europa League this season, United will undoubtedly be looking to bolster their squad at the end of the campaign. Amorim’s side have struggled this term in the Premier League and following a 4-3 defeat to Brentford on Sunday afternoon, they sit languishing in 15th.

One of the main issues this season has been the lack of goals from the club’s strikers. Both Joshua Zirkzee and Hojlund have struggled to score goals and it was expected at one stage that both men could be sold as they look to revamp their squad.

Zirkzee’s career at United looked all but over in December when he was jeered off the pitch having been substituted in the first half during the defeat to Newcastle. Since that moment, the Dutchman’s form has improved and he has shown his versatility by featuring as a No.10.

According to Calciomercato, that form has changed Amorim’s plans for this summer. It is claimed that Zirkzee is now seen as having a brighter future at Old Trafford and the Portuguese head coach is ready to allow Hojlund to leave instead.

Juve are now seen as being one of the frontrunners to sign Hojlund. The Turin side are preparing for Dusan Vlahovic to leave them in the summer and Hojlund has reportedly been shortlisted as an option to replace him.

When he signed for United, Hojlund was seen as one of the top prospects in the Italian leagues having scored nine goals in 32 appearances for Atalanta. The Dane had also managed to break into his national team and in his first season at United he did show promise.

However, this season has been difficult for the centre-forward and despite being a player who you would think would suit Amorim’s style, he has managed just nine goals in all competitions this campaign compared to 16 last season. Due to Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules, United would need to sell Hojlund for no less than £38.4m this summer to avoid a loss in their books.
