A BIG-HEARTED fundraiser is preparing to walk from the Bradford area to Edinburgh to help vulnerable children.
Max Harrison, from the Shipley area, works for Sansaar Care – a charitable organisation providing children’s homes for vulnerable youngsters who have suffered traumatic backgrounds and upbringings.
The 36-year-old manages one of the children’s homes, and from July 18, Max will walk from there to the Scottish capital, which is around 200 miles, to support Sansaar Care.
Max said: “I will walk an average of 30 miles a day and camp anywhere I can overnight, until I reach Edinburgh.
“The total distance is around 200 miles and will take approximately seven days.
“I wanted to do something to contribute to the home’s development, while raising awareness of the organisation and what we do, and how we support vulnerable children from the ages of seven to 17 in the care system.
“The children we care for have suffered traumatic backgrounds and upbringings, and in doing this, I want them to feel that there is always someone fighting in their corner.”

“I love hiking in the Lake District, but this will be a whole different ball game, more mentally than physically.”

Tel Sultan, Sansaar Care director, praised Max.
He said: “His unwavering commitment and compassion have made a lasting impact on the lives of the young people in our care.
“His efforts will help ensure we can continue to deliver on our mission and support every child in reaching their full potential.
“Working in the care sector can be demanding and emotionally challenging, often leaving staff feeling underappreciated.
“At Sansaar Care, we are determined to change that narrative by fostering a work environment where employees feel valued, respected and supported.
“This culture is now bearing fruit, as we witness our team reenergised with passion and dedication – something clearly demonstrated through Max’s inspiring initiative.
“We are incredibly proud of Max and wish him every success in his fundraising journey.
“We look forward to celebrating the success of this event and the positive impact it will bring to the children of Sansaar Care.”
