A SALISBURY man has started a new, unique specialist legal consulting business in the city.

Robert Oades started his business, Oades German Legal Consultancy, in October 2025, offering clients worldwide specialist advice on German law.

The business is believed to be the first and only German law practice operating outside of Germany, delivering fixed‑fee guidance on issues ranging from tenancy disputes and employment matters to inheritance, tax, contracts, claims enforcement and global asset tracing.

The business operates from Salisbury but serves clients worldwide, combining German legal expertise with the accessibility and transparency expected from modern UK‑based professional services.

Robert spent more than eight years living, studying and working in Baden‑Württemberg after beginning his legal training in Germany at the age of 17. He trained at the University of Tübingen and later worked at both a Stuttgart‑based insolvency law firm and a corporate law firm in Heidelberg.

But during those years, Robert noticed a persistent problem: individuals dealing with German legal issues, especially from abroad, often struggled to access clear, affordable advice. Germany’s regulated pricing structures and strict professional rules made flexible, fixed‑fee support extremely difficult to offer.

He said: “It became clear that many people simply couldn’t get the help they needed. Minimum‑pricing laws made practical, accessible advice almost impossible. I grew disillusioned with how inaccessibility was built into the system.”

Seeing a gap in the market, Robert moved to Salisbury to establish a new type of service – one that could deliver German legal expertise while operating outside the constraints of German fee regulations.

“By basing the consultancy in the UK, I can provide the level of clarity, structure and affordability that clients have long needed,” he said. “I’m selling German legal advice around the world from Salisbury at prices that would be illegal in Germany.”

The consultancy now assists clients globally on matters involving German contracts and commercial issues, tenancy and employment disputes, inheritance, estates and succession, tax and administrative processes, claims enforcement and asset tracing, and property and cross‑border transactions.

All services are delivered online with fixed, transparent pricing, a deliberate move designed to give clients confidence and control when dealing with complex foreign legal systems.

Robert’s family lives in Salisbury, but he says he chose the area not only for its quality of life but also for its growing community of independent specialists and start‑ups.
