Clair Obsur: Expedition 33 is getting more popular as time passes.
It’s not unusual for a game to attract peak concurrent players on launch day, and decline from there. Sometimes the number increases during said release’s first weekend, but rarely does it get bigger from that point on. This is especially true with single player games, as people gradually begin to beat the campaign and move on.
But the debut effort from French dev Sandfall Interactive, fresh from receiving recognition from its country’s president, is only getting bigger.
Released on 24th April, the game achieved a new concurrent players record on Steam this weekend, clearing 145,063 players. That’s higher than the title’s first weekend, where it peaked at around 121,422 players or so.
Unfortunately, we can’t see this data for PS5, but on PSNProfiles.com – a website which tracks the Trophies of around 6.67 million PlayStation owners – the game is now trending ahead of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, suggesting interest in the game is gradually increasing on Sony’s system, too.
It seems that the word of mouth around the title is doing a lot of the heavy lifting here, as more and more people describe the release as a legitimate Game of the Year contender.
