It’s officially the year of the Dachshund at this year’s Goodwoof event
The Chelsea Flower Show, the Met Gala, VE Day celebrations and the Badminton Horse Trials, May is certainly not short of fabulous things to do on the Tatler calendar. But there is one event that the hound-inclined might not have heard of (if you’ve been living under a rock) that should definitely be in your diary: the Duke of Richmond’s Goodwoof weekend. That’s right, a two-day celebration of canine excellence on the sprawling grounds of the family’s West Sussex stately, Goodwood House.
Think doggy fashion shows, ‘Ministry of Hound’ DJ sets, agility tests, a Jellycat dog hotel and so, so much more surrounded by a sea of loveable pups and their much-adoring owners. Whether you’re with-mutt, or just a fan of our four-legged friends, Goodwoof returns this 17 and 18 May with a host of activities sure to fill your heart with puppy love including woodland walks, dog tarot readings, a wellness retreat and plenty of competitions for the most ambitious owners. Meanwhile, the ‘Barkitecture’ tent is filled with cutting-edge kennel designs to inspire you for your own home, and the literary corner will play host to special readings from the likes of Michael Morpurgo, Clare Balding, Hugh Bonneville and James Middleton.
