While the Bank Holiday may be drawing to a close, many of us are eagerly anticipating more time off later this month. And with the forecast promising brighter and warmer weather, it could be the ideal opportunity for a leisurely stroll.

We have got a few more long weekends to look forward to this year, and while many will be socialising with friends, organising activities for the kids, or simply unwinding at home, some of us will opt to spend the day in the great outdoors. If you’re keen to escape your local area and embark on a pleasant walk, there’s no shortage of options. Whether you’re after a challenging, hilly hike or a shorter, less strenuous route, the UK has plenty to offer.

One woman is adamant that this breath-taking area, complete with wild horses and views that make you feel like you’re “above the clouds,” is definitely worth a visit. She can hardly believe it is in the UK – and it isn’t far from Birmingham.

Located near the market town of Church Stretton, the Carding Mill Valley on the Long Mynd provides a delightful introduction to the landscapes of Shropshire.

The area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy walking, hiking and running, with the route considered moderate and about three hours in length. The tranquil location boasts woods, hills, streams, and local wildlife such as sheep, lambs, and wild horses.

The National Trust invites everyone to “enjoy a bracing walk, a challenging bike ride, a wild swim, have fun with the family or just take in the views”. The trust added: “There are plenty of places to play and get closer to nature at Carding Mill Valley in Shropshire. Bring the whole family along and get set for an outdoors adventure.”
