A teenage girl was left needing hospital treatment following a “serious sexual assault” in a Romford Park yesterday (Sunday, February 15). A man, 18, has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Police were called to reports of the assault against a girl, in her late teens, in Cottons Park at around 7.30pm. She was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service “as a priority.”
An 18-year-old man was arrested by officers this morning.
A cordon remains in place in Cottons Park, while police carry out their enquires. They are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.
“We appreciate the concern that this will cause, but we want to reassure people that we have a person in custody and have increased patrols in the local area,” said a Metropolitan Police spokesperson.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 7.49pm on Sunday 15 February to reports of an incident on Recreation Avenue, Romford.
“We sent an ambulance crew and a paramedic in a fast response car to the scene.
“We treated a woman at the scene and took her to hospital as a priority.”
