A 59-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man have been arrested by the PSNI’s Predatory Lending Team.
The pair were arrested in the Lisburn area today, Thursday, February 19, on suspicion of illegal money lending and associated criminality. A significant amount of cash was also seized.
They have both since been released on bail, pending further inquiries.
Detective Inspector Cathy O’Hara said: “A 59-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man were arrested in Lisburn on suspicion of illegal money lending and associated criminality. A significant amount of cash was also seized.
“Illegal money lenders exploit vulnerable people in Northern Ireland’s most marginalised communities. It is completely false to claim that they are providing a community service.
